On November 26, 2024, in the Elizabeth Hall of the Moscow Theological Academy, a scientific and practical conference «The Royal Attributes: from History to the Project of Restoration and Adaptation» was held.
After the opening speech of the Deputy Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy on administrative and economic work Hegumen Gerasim (Dyachkov), the floor for the first scientific report was given to candidate of historical sciences A.V. Engovatova. In co-authorship with A.V. Yaganov, Senior Researcher of the Department of Preservation of Archaeological Heritage of the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and E.I. Ruzaeva, Senior Researcher of the Department of Preservation of Archaeological Heritage of the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the report on the topic «Archaeological research of the front wings of the Tsar's royal chambers and service buildings of the palace complex in 2015-2024» was presented. The speakers shared the results of archaeological excavations conducted on the territory of the Moscow Theological Academy by the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, answered the questions of the conference participants.
The second report «Fragments of the water supply system of the Trinity-Sergiev Monastery of the XVI-XVII centuries near the building of the Tsar's Attributes» was devoted to the reconstruction of the wooden water supply system. The report was presented by Hegumen Josiah (Sidunov), the economist and head of the Unified Customer Service of the Svyato-Trinity Sergiev Lavra monastery. The monastery water supply system has not been analyzed in detail before in the context of this topic, so the information in the report is of great value.
The next was the report of the researchers of the Department of Archaeology of Moscow Russia of the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences O.N. Glazunova and S.V. Borzova «Furnaces of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra of the second half of the XVII century». The report presented the results of the archaeological research, which allowed to reconstruct rare stove tiles, which were probably made in local workshops. Among them are rare tiles with «forged» pattern and images of birds, including those with opposing Sirin and Alkonost. The archaeological collection allows to present in colors the interiors of the Lavra premises of the second half of the XVII century.
M.A. Kapitonova, a specialist of the Department of Preservation of Archaeological Heritage of the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, presented a report on the topic «Reconstruction of the stove from the Tsar's dormitories according to the research of the Moscow Region Archaeological Expedition in the second half of the XVII century. Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra in 2023». The report was devoted to the story of two complete tile sets from two stoves of the XVII-XVIII centuries. The study of tile stigma patterns allowed not only to fully reconstruct the stigma characteristic of Lavra production, but also to collect the appearance of the stove decor. The interesting story was accompanied by the demonstration of the presentation and a banner with the image of a somewhat reduced copy of the reconstructed tile stove, which gave the report a special visibility and aroused the keen interest of the conference participants.
The last report of the first part of the conference was the report of P.Y. Rachkovsky — architect of the architectural and restoration workshop «Arkada-NT», a member of the Union of Architects of Russia. In his report « "We should make this building from Lavra materials…" Contractor contracts of the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra as a source of study of traditional construction technologies and materials»» Pavel Yurievich told about the valuable information he extracted from archival contractor contracts on materials and construction technologies in the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, and noted the importance of historical accuracy in carrying out restoration work on objects of historical and cultural value.
Report of the First Deputy Director of the N.V. Grigorieva «Prospects for the development of the Sergiev Posad State Historical and Art Museum-Reserve within the framework of the realization of the concept of spatial development of Sergiev Posad» was the first report of the thematic block devoted to the museum use of the Tsar's Attributes. The concept of the Sergiev Posad Museum-Reserve was originally developed by Priest Pavel Florensky, a teacher at the Moscow Theological Academy, and P.N. Kapterev, son of a professor at the Moscow Theological Academy. The participants of the conference learned about the prospects of the forthcoming in 2025-2030 expansion of museum activities of the Sergiev Posad Museum-Reserve, which emerged on the basis of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra, from the report of Natalia Vasilievna.
Report on the topic «Technological features of the creation of medallions "victories" of Emperor Peter the Great for the decoration of the "dining room" ("royal study") of the royal palaces» head of the department «Artistic culture of the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra XVIII-XIX centuries» branch «The Trinity-Sergius Lavra Riznitsa» Sergiev Posad State Historical and Art Museum-Reserve» Candidate of Art History, Associate Professor of the Department of History and Theory of Church Art of the Moscow Theological Academy; and the Head of the Department of Art History and Theory of Church Art of the Moscow Theological Academy. of the Academy E.Yu. Suvorova continued the second part of the conference after a short break. Eugenia told about the works of the outstanding masters who laid the foundation for the creation of medallions decorating the Elizabeth Hall of the Tsar's Attributes, where the conference was held, which allowed the participants to directly examine the above-mentioned objects of research.
Report «Activity of the Restoration Department of the Museum of Christian Art "Church Archaeological Cabinet": history and modernity» was presented by O.S. Voskresenskaya — Head of the Restoration Department of the Museum of Christian Art «Church Archaeological Cabinet» Moscow Theological Academy, senior lecturer of the Department of History and Theory of Church Art. In her report Olga traced the history of the restoration department at the Church Archaeological Cabinet from the time when it was staffed by Nun Juliana (Sokolova) and E.S. Churakova to the present.
The conference concluded with a report by E.L. Puganova, the curator of the exposition of the Museum of Christian Art «Church-Archaeological Study» Moscow Theological Academy, on the topic «Church-Archaeological Study: History and Modernity». In her speech Ekaterina L. Puganova briefly told the history of the Hegumen Gerasim (Dyachkov) thanked the speakers for their research and all the participants for their active participation in the conference.

The conference allowed to shed light on little-explored facts from the history of the Tsar's Attributes, to discuss the problems of study of the palace complex and to outline prospects for further study of the richest in cultural and historical terms object — the Royal Attributes of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.
