A new textbook «Russian Religious Philosophy» has been published by the Oschechurch Postgraduate School and Doctoral School named after Equal Apostles Cyril and Methodius. The purpose of this edition, prepared by the author's team under the direction of Professor of Philosophy K.M. Antonov, is to fully explore the history of the development of Russian religious thought.
The textbook examines the origins and stages of the formation of Russian thought in ancient Russia, the key directions of its development in the XVII-XVIII centuries, the features of Russian religious philosophy in the first half and middle of the XIX century.
Special attention is paid to «period of systems» — the last quarter of the XIX century, as well as the religious-philosophical renaissance of the early XX century. A significant place in the textbook is occupied by a section devoted to the development and completion of the tradition of Russian religious philosophy in emigration and in the USSR.
The textbook considers the fates, ideas and major works of Russian religious philosophers, the main directions of philosophical thought in Russia and its leading institutions, significant moments of interaction with European philosophical thought. The development of philosophical ideas is presented in the broad context of church, political and cultural life. Special attention is paid to the significance of Russian religious philosophy for the development of theological thought.
The authors have made a large-scale holistic reconstruction of the historical and philosophical process in Russia — more precisely, the tradition of Russian religious philosophy in both secular and spiritual-academic versions. At present it is a completed intellectual and spiritual heritage, which, like the heritage of Russian literature and art, has entered the natural cultural environment of every enlightened person who connects himself with Russian culture as a native — or close and meaningfully understandable by the similarity of fate, meaning and purpose. Mastering this heritage, realizing its role, place and significance in life and in thinking (including theological), its meaningful reactualization in new historical conditions make it necessary to study it systematically.
The publication is accompanied by illustrations for a more substantive presentation of each of the epochs and personalities described.
The textbook is intended for students studying in the field of «Theology» in higher spiritual and secular educational institutions, and can also be recommended to students of other humanitarian specialties and a wide range of readers interested in the history of Russian spiritual and intellectual history. culture.
