On the occasion of yesterday's vandalism in the streets of our city, the attack on the City Hall of Serbian Athens and, moreover, the attempt to set it on fire, the Diocese of Baczkovo calls for peace and condemns all forms of violence.
Politically motivated violent protests and riots are not and cannot be linked to prayerful respect or any respect for the tragic victims at the train station in our city. Everyone has the right to express their opinion and express their discontent, but no one has the right to demolish and burn our city and justify it with sympathy for the victims of a terrible catastrophe. That is why we invite the faithful to come to the churches of the Bachka Diocese, where, with the blessing of the Metropolitan of Bachka, Mr.. Irenaeus, every day services and prayers for the deceased and for the healing of the wounded are held, as well as participate in the services. In this way, in the only proper Christian, holy and human way, he will express his prayerful respect for the victims.
Finally, we pray to the Lord to rest all those who tragically died at the train station of our city, to grant healing and speedy recovery to the survivors, and to grant His peace and blessing to Novi Sad, all its inhabitants, our homeland Serbia. The Serbian people and all peoples and nations.
